Shot 88: SUREFOOTED

By: Tom Newhouse in Leadership, 2 weeks ago

A Shot is a poignant leadership tip from “a rifle.”  Yes, leadership coach, Tom Newhouse, uses a rifle from his farming heritage to “tell it like it is.” —

To be surefooted we need balance on the path.  You know, my marksman had to have balance.  Certainly, every adventure had its upsetting moments, but we had strategies to surmount them.  One was seeing the goal ahead.  Yes, eyes on the goal, not the individual steps.  Another was perspective:  Little things stayed small when seeing the big picture of what we were about.  That reminds me of a third strategy:  noting and adjusting for feedback on the important things, not everything.  Well, that’s enough for now.
I’ll bet the strategies of my marksman, speak to you.  Set your sights on a goal, calibrate the big picture, and process feedback on important variables.  Go for it:  Go surefooted…with balance.
