A Shot is a poignant leadership tip from “a rifle.”  Yes, leadership coach, Tom Newhouse, uses a rifle from his farming heritage to “tell it like it is.” —

AH, A DOUBLE-ENTENDRE.  Many a rifle has had the assignment of an execution—the ugly one.  Not me.  My role was the other kind:  to execute—to perform well, to bring home the bacon, as we say.  I was pretty good at it.  Made me stand out.
You gotta love vision.  And a good strategy is admirable.  But frankly, without execution those features don’t amount to a hill of beans.  It’s execution that typically wins the day.  Performance generates results.  To lead well is to also lead in the day-to-day execution.   And, while that has many ingredients, the first is to value it.  Do you value execution?  Is your proof visible?
