Shot 6: TAKE A BREAK

By: Tom Newhouse in Leadership, 2 years ago

A Shot is a poignant leadership tip from “a rifle.”  Yes, leadership coach, Tom Newhouse, uses a rifle from his farming heritage to “tell it like it is.” —

“TAKE A BREAK.”  From my corner in the shop, I often heard Rudy make that pronouncement. Sometimes it came amidst a rainy spell when things were a little slow anyway.  Seems one should take advantage of availability to rejuvenate.  Sometimes it came in the middle of a hard day’s labor. “Let’s take a break.  Then we’ll hit it again.”  Both kinds seemed to give everyone renewed energy and fresh perspectives. They typically got back to the task with better ideas and increased vigor.

Leaders, need I say more? Respite, time off, and vacations rejuvenate.  Take a break.
