SMART GOALS: Write Down Your Goals
You’ve decided you want to accomplish a new goal. It’s time to sit down to figure out what steps are needed to help you reach your desired outcome.
No matter if you are working towards improving your health, wanting to better your financial situation or change a habit, you can start by writing down your desired outcome and working through a SMART GOAL FORMULA
Start by sitting down in a quiet place. Be present as you begin to think about what it is you want. The power lies within you on what and how to obtain your goal. One of the first things you can do to bring it out from within you is to write what it is you want for an outcome down on paper.
Begin by writing on each of these areas:
S – SPECIFIC. The clearer you are on your goal, the more likely your are to work towards your desired outcome. Be as specific as possible so that you can hit your target. Ask yourself what, when, where and how to what it is you want to achieve.
M – MEASURABLE. How can you measure your goal? What steps do you need to take to reach your desired outcome? How often, how many, how much? Be specific about the measure of your goal.
A – ATTAINABLE. Set your goal within realistic terms, low enough to reach, high enough to challenge yourself. It’s important to set a goal that is within reach.
R – RELEVANT. How will the goal make a difference in your life? Is it a good time to work on the goal? What transformation will occur as a result of reaching your desired outcome?
T – TIMELY. Put a specific time frame on your goal. Once you have the time table, start working out the action steps need, breaking it down bit-by-bit to find the formula that works best for you.
