Catch a Glimpse of the Open Sky and Release Yourself Into It!

I recently engaged in a webinar with the founder of New Ventures West and Integral Leadership LLC., James Flaherty. In the webinar, James shared a phrase that has stayed with me, “Catch a Glimpse of the Open Sky and Release Yourself Into It.”
What resonated and emerged for me was the importance of evoking presencing into my body, slowly and deeply intentionally inhaling and then deliberately exhaling with the availability to catch a glimpse of that open sky and releasing myself into it….
The word presencing speaks so much to me as the capacity to connect to the deepest source of self, which then allows my future to emerge, to be released into that entire open sky. Otto Sharmer, Senior Lecturer at MIT and co-founder of the Presencing Institute speaks of Presencing in that “it involves seeing differently through our own capacity as well as the work we do with others.” It presents the question of how to be present in whatever situation or event is in front of us and then learning something new about yourself.
I feel there is a relationship with presencing and the action of being mindful. With the juxtaposition of both presencing and mindfulness, it’s how we connect with each other, how we move through life each day, how we make decisions in our personal and professional journey, each moment of our day. Examples: Before we eat, pause for a few minutes to be grateful for all that went into the food coming to us in our life; its dedicating ourselves to the values and commitment to life; It’s feeling and naming those options, consequences and sensations, when you are making a decision, mentally, emotionally, physically and spiritually,
Key Reflection Questions: (important to note here, you will notice something releasing in you as you share your responses to your experience and story)

- How did I evoke presencing and mindfulness into my body?
- What did I discover?
- What habit(s) …is it time to let go of? (ways of thinking/talking)
- What are the possibilities or visions do I have for my life?
- What’s holding me back?
- What is it that keep my heart beating?
- What was it like to “Catch a Glimpse of the Open Sky and to Release Yourself Into It?
As you spend time with one or more of these reflection questions, describe your insights and discoveries and how you will integrate your new awareness of your being. Focus your awareness inside of yourself, to an area where you find calm and ease. Be gentle, locate a positive sensation(s), accept yourself as you are today and take all the time you need.
